hw #1-7 Solving Equation Using Add/Sub
We are using our algebraic properies to TRANSFORM equations toward out TARGET i.e. 'x='
ISOLATE those variables!!
pg 35 #18-28 SHOW ME DETAILED WORK!!! INCLUDING THE CHECK STEP!!
i am having trouble with problem 21. i tried subtracting from both sides, but the answers i got just didnt seem right. how do i figure out this problem?

ReplyDelete#21) v + 9 = -2
1) ok, let's agree on our target 'v=', right? RIGHT!
2) What's bothering v?... the addition of 9, right? RIGHT!
3) How do we fight (UNDO) the addition of 9? We use the INVERSE OPERATION... we subtract 9 FROM BOTH SIDES so that the equation stays in balance!
4) then we have: v = -2 - 9 or v = -11, right?
5) CHECK STEP
v + 9 = -2
(-11) + 9 = -2
-2 = -2 CHECK!!
Ca-peesh?? lmk
ok yes i understand it now. i was confusing the sides and the subtraction from both sides.
ReplyDeletethanks!!!!!!
I dont get problem 22, r+27=-52. I got -72 then checked it and it didn't make sense. Then I got -25 and I checked that and it didn't fit.
